Training
Training consists of
stretching, basics, forms, and sparring practice. Training is
constructed to provide an aerobic and muscular practice. Free sparring
practice is not mandatory if desired, but it may be necessary if a
candidate desires to take a blackbelt exam. Hard training to be a solid
martial artist is provided only upon the agreement of the teachers and
the students. Etiquette and manner is strictly enforced, and no one is
excused for absolutely any reasons.
Ranks
Each student is provided with a certificate and membership card when
testing, and it allows the student to maintain their rank where ever
they may relocate to throughout the world. JKA/AF membership is
required for participation in any events hosted by the JKA/AF, such as
exams and tournaments. When blackbelt is achieved, it is registered at
the headquarters in Japan to ensure the validity of the ranking. There
are usually two to three testings in one year, and there are ten ranks
before the first degree blackbelt. Students do no necessarily progress
by one rank, but they are given the ranks based on their skills,
ability, amount of training that they went through and their manner.
